waterpoem 4

Drisana Deborah Jack

the sea is heavy
with bodies
overcast souls
some walk
seeking solace
some walk with eyes open
with eternal surprise
deep 6-ing in the shallows of submerged
streets

there is a sadness
in the weightlessness of a body
afloat
displaced from the ground
defying gravity and other
manmade theories

maybe this is not the time for poems and
love songs
but sometimes
a mouth needs to sing
a throat needs to do more than wail
eyes need to tear
with the salt from within
